I’ve always been deeply interested by the exploration of the human body, constantly looking for improved ways to align my bone structure and enhance its health. Thus, I’ve developed a laboratory of sorts where the magic or reinventing oneself takes place.
The way I see it, our bodies are the only home where we don’t have to pay rent, and yet, we seldom worry about its maintenance… and don’t get me started on our lack of interest on the caretaking of our souls! It’s like we never want to open up, and we let our feelings become a terrible burden.
After being trained for over 10 to be a dancer by the National Fine Arts Institute and the Academy of Mexican Dancing Arts, and after getting my degree in theatre and performance from the National School of Performing Arts; I got involved in a never-ending quest for knowledge on the human body, our complex minds and the space surrounding us. Due to a professional voyage, I found myself in Asia, where I unveiled the answer to many questions regarding the relationship between body and soul… this union called yoga.
My first real learning experience took place in Yoga Mala, in Hong Kong. For 9 years, I’d spend every summer training and soaking myself on knowledge, hoping that one day I would be able to share it with others.
Back in Mexico, I found mentors like Frida Martinez, Alma Mino, Socorro Meza, Paola Martinez, Gabriel Fragoso, Ricardo Fiallega, Paula Aguilar, and Rosa Adame. Besides, great personalities of the yoga scene, like Bapstiste Marceau, Viswanat Mysore Sivaram, Cheuk Na, Lindsay Chang, Jolene Ho, Brigitte Longevine, Jawahar Bangera, and Alicia Ramos shared their wisdom with me during various trainings. Finally, one of the most paramount influences in my career was the guru of Yin Yoga, Paul Grilley. Thanks to him I found my way on the path of this particular form of Yoga practice, and merging what I learnt from him with some research of my own, I created a Yin Yoga Teacher’s Training entirely in Spanish in order to make it available for the Hispanic audience. A few years later, in 2011, I created the association of Yin Yoga in Mexico.
Furthermore, I got involved in another type of Yoga practice: Aerial Yoga. After years of personal research and various courses, I developed a teaching technique and in 2011 founded Yogaéreo México (Aerial Yoga Mexico) too.
All these discoveries, creations and new methods gave me the chance to share what I knew and train teachers from all over the globe. Another tool I use to share my knowledge is writing; publishing articles in magazines like Bien-Être (Dominican Republic) and the e-magazine published by the Mexican Yoga Federation.
My work caught the attention of brands like EasYoga, who made me their brand ambassador and sponsors my shala Amala Yoga Studio.
Welcome and join me in this journey of exploration of the mind and body.
